First thing first, how can a multi billion pound brand lose it's rights too it's famous colours? Which brand possible good you ask? Well Burberry could...
I am absolutely baffled by this, a brand that's world wide known suddenly beginning to lose a battle over their famed print!
As I read on it tells me that China have forced Burberry to appeal against the decision in which they say Burberry should give up the rights to their very famous, very classic colours- camel, red and black tartan. Now my first question is how did this ever happen?! Well it turns out the trademark colours are supposed to be used up until 2020 but Burberry have not used the pattern in China in 3 years.
Second question. What will happen if this goes ahead? Burberry will lose it's rights to the trademark which means rival fashion houses will be able to use the pattern.
Third and final question- is this due to the news Arthendts will be succeeded by Christopher Bailey's? Well no not exactly, however Burberry profits have been down 3% and people feel his two roles (he is also Cheif Creative Officer) aren't working well together.
Over all I'm still amazed a globally known, EXTREMLY famous brand could let it come to this is one of the most developed countries in the world but I shall keep you all posted!
Mwah xx
